I joined a choir last week. We only meet once a week, we are singing some difficult pieces, and I have a cold. Needless to say, it wasn’t the smoothest practice. But it was so so nice. To sing, to hear layers of voices around me, filling in my gaps, going before and behind me. I forgot how much I loved singing in a choir.

I like to think that joining choir is one of a few nice resolutions for this coming semester. I’d like to make better meals, to take walks on Sunday afternoons, to make pleasure reading an actual part of life. These aren’t big things, just things that make daily life a little better- simple joys that make you feel like you lived the day well. So, here is to weekly shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables. To a walk in King’s Park this afternoon with Helen, to a book club with three wonderful friends, and to the small details that make life a little more special.
